The mising teen who was reportedly driving without a valid driver's licence and without the vehicle owner's consent has been found dead on what would have been his 18th birthday, following a tragic crash in the Rio Cobre.

Oshene Darby, of a Kingston address, had been missing since late Monday night after the vehicle he was allegedly operating plunged into the river along the Bog Walk Gorge about 11:40 p.m.

Reports indicate that Darby was behind the wheel of a Toyota Hiace motor truck with two other teenagers aboard when he reportedly lost control while navigating the narrow and winding roadway. The vehicle veered off the road and fell into the river below.

The two passengers were rescued shortly after the crash by residents and divers in the area. Darby, however, remained missing until the recovery of his body.

Police say investigations are ongoing as they work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The tragedy has left the community in mourning, with renewed concerns being raised about the dangers of the Bog Walk Gorge and the risks associated with unlicensed and unauthorized driving.
