Security guard charged with larceny

Thirty-eight-year-old Ricardo Nicholas, a security guard, of Spanish Town, St Catherine, has been charged with larceny as a servant following the theft of a large sum of money on January 3.

Reports from the police are that at 7:54 p.m., Nicholas was responsible for receiving money bags delivered by a cash-in-transit team. Investigations revealed that he used a sharp instrument to puncture one of the bags and removed cash amounting to $460,000. The incident was captured on closed-circuit television. Based on footage and witness statements, Nicholas was subsequently charged. His court date is being finalised.
