Dancehall/reggae star Jah Vinci has struck gold with his latest single, ' Scream', a track that has fans singing along to every note, captivated by its mix of sexual suspense and Christmas-themed instrumentals.

In an exclusive interview with THE WEEKEND STAR, Jah Vinci explained the song's origins, emphasising his desire to craft something different from previous hits such as Virgin, Pretty Like a Rose, and Birthday Glow.

"I started at home, started writing the lyrics," he said of the hit single, produced by NotNice Records. "I started off writing the lyrics, no rhythm, no beat, no nutten, and start medz how mi a guh dweet. Den mi bring it to NotNice and tell him of it, and him just work di sauce afta dat," said Jah Vinci.

The talented producer NotNice, who now works with the 'world singer' Jah Vinci and souful vocalist Nordia Mothersille, added a Christmas touch to the single, while maintaining its sensual undertone.

"NotNice been a tell mi seh mi need another banger fi kick off di ting, suh di whole Christmas sound was his idea to bring dat to it," said Jah Vinci.

Released three weeks ago, Scream trended at number one for over two weeks and is currently at number three on YouTube Music, boasting over two million views, 50,000 'likes', and nearly 3,000 comments.

Jah Vinci, known for hits such as No Body Knows (Where Do Angels Go), Watch Yuh Friends and Mama Love, credits his consistent success to teamwork and collaboration.

"Is a team thing, enuh, because me will like a song and think seh [it] a di next biggest hit tomorrow; and Nordia might hear it and seh, 'Yow bredda, dis a work,'; and den NotNice hear it and seh, 'It alright.' "Suh it push me fi guh harder the next time; suh every song weh wi build, wi try top it with the next one," said Jah Vinci.

The highly proclaimed singer said the bond shared by members of the team is one that goes beyond muisc. In fact, he describes it as a "family unit" in which members "trust the process".

"... mi jus come up wid a song and Nordia come up wid a vibe, and wi just sit and see how best we can bring di hit outta it," Jah Vinci said. "Mi always a think mi find di hit dem more when i'm in the studios with di team. A just how wi work together and everybody have di one dream - everybody waah everybody win ova yah so," he added.

NotNice said the drive and desire to push his talents to strive for better also serves as a form of motivation for him.

"Sometimes mi have some songs weh mi seh, 'Yow singer, if dah song yah nuh buss mi kill miself, and mi still deh yah,' he laughed. "But sometimes, it's not that it's not a good song, enuh, but it's just weh di people dem mind deh sometimes... . But sometimes yuh hear some songs and yuh seh, 'Yup, a it dis,'" said NotNice.

He continued, "It's still a good feeling fi know seh wi believe in di song, work pon it, fix di riddim, mix it, put it out and di people dem accept it; and mi a seh, 'Yea man, a dis mi did a imagine," he added.

The renowned producer, who has worked with several big-name artistes, said the role and work of a "good producer is very important" in ensuring the success of a project. In agreeing, Jah Vinci shared that since working with NotNice, it has provided him with a deeper insight into creating musical content and encourages him to "push harder".

With a tight, brotherhoodly bond that the two musical enthusiasts created, they shared that their relationship goes way beyond music, but a genuine friendship which had blossomed over 16 years.

"A Jah Vinci gimmie mi first number one, enuh - Watch Yuh Friends -- and the most recent number one, a [him] to. Suh its years of work and chemistry, musically. But outside a di work, wi cook food and hold vibe, so it's just a musical relationship," said NotNice, to which Jah Vinci agreed, stating, "When mi have mi woman problem dem a NotNice mi call," he said with a laugh.
