IN ALLAN Ottey's two Jamaica Premier League (JPL) football games this season, his team Mount Pleasant won by four or more goals, with the striker getting on the scoresheet and providing assists in those matches.

The national representative, who last played for Faulkland in the Western Confed Super League, is happy to be back in the top-flight and ready to lead the lines for the title aspirants this season.

"It feels great being back in the Premier League. I was in the Super League for a little while and so it really feels great being back in the Premier League right now," he told STAR Sports.

"I have set myself some targets to get some goals and I want at least 15. I think I can reach my best again and help the team get good results," he continued.

After helping his team to a 5-1 win over Humble Lion in their opening match, Mount Pleasant only managed to score more than one goal in their next three games, a 4-0 win over MoBay United.

However, Ottey's return on Sunday to the St. Ann team's attack was a massive boost, as his pace, power and experience gave the team an extra punch, as they eased past Molynes United 4-1. He hopes to continue having that kind of impact.

"It is a pretty good feeling being back in the team. In my first two games I have scored. I was out for a couple matches because of a slight injury, so I feel pretty good being back in the starting 11 and I hope to keep doing well and help the team," he said.

After an unbeaten start in six games, most observers have labelled the St. Ann side as favourites for the title, but Ottey insists they are not looking that far ahead and that their approach is to take it game by game

"We are not looking at the championship right now. We want to take it one game at a time, so we are taking it step-by-step," he said.

"It is a very good team with different guys from different clubs and different parishes and it's great being with the players and we all believe we have a very good chance," he added.

The 29-year-old Ottey has won two Premier League titles with Montego Bay United (2014, 2016). He has also represented Jamaica at the Under-20 and senior level.
