Harold Thomas was appointed coach of Dunbeholden FC just three weeks ago but already he is having a massive influence on the club, says Manager Paul Christie.

The former Harbour View Premier League and under-20 coach has led the team to three wins and one defeat in four matches since taking charge, and Christie said the veteran coach is changing their whole outlook and approach to the game at Dunbeholden and he expects them to continue getting better.

"Thomas has come on board and he is teaching us every day. He has shown us a new perspective to football and we are trying to learn and to improve," he said.He said Thomas has instilled a sense of belief in the players, by instructing them to not panic whatever the situation they are in. We are trying to do that and we are having some positive results and we are happy," Christie said.

On Sunday, Dunbeholden handed the previously unbeaten Vere United their first defeat this season. Playing a man down and coming from a goal down, Dunbeholden beat the Clarendon-based team 2-1 to climb to third in the table with the same number of points (nine) as third-place Harbour View, and Christie can only see the team improving and getting better.

"We are just trying to constantly improve and get better. We lost a lot of our core (players). Some are injured, other have changed careers and others have migrated. But we are still trying to improve," Christie said.

Prized scalps

Before Thomas was appointed, Dunbeholden had lost twice in two matches. However, since Thomas replaced Curtis Hamilton, who walked away because of personal matters, the team has taken nine points from a possible 12, with prized scalps such as Cavalier and Vere.

"The team is adjusting and trying to adapt to his (Thomas') philosophy. We are getting some positive results and we are happy to know that we are still in the mix (for the play-offs)," the Dunbeholden manager said.

Dunbeholden will not be in action this weekend. Their next game will be against Tivoli Gardens on Monday, August 16.
