‘We were ready for the game’
Arnett Gardens coach Alex Thomas has expressed his disappointment after his team's Jamaica Premier League (JPL) game was postponed yesterday because of bad weather.
The former champions are yet to see action in the 2020-21 JPL. They were scheduled to play UWI FC on the opening weekend of the competition, but the latter withdrew from the competition. Yesterday they were down to face arch-rivals Tivoli Gardens at the UWI/Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence.
Thomas said it is frustrating, having spent the entire week preparing the team, only to hear that the game will not be played.
Remains motivated
Nevertheless, he said his team remains motivated and will continue to prepare for their opening match.
"It is very stressful, but what can we do? We were psyched up for the game. We were ready for the game.
"But at the end of the day we cannot control the weather. So we cannot focus on what we can't control. We just have to focus on keeping them motivated and upbeat and ensure that whenever the day comes for the game, we will be ready on that day," he said.
If the rescheduled match against Tivoli is not played this week, the 'Junglists' will have to wait until match day three, next weekend, to test their capabilities against Humble Lion.
The Clarendon team has lost two from two matches in the league, but will have had a couple of full matches under their belt. Thomas, however, remains positive.
"It could be a blessing in disguise. They are a team with two games underneath their belts, but we will be fresh and ready to go," he said.
