President of Bull Bay Football Club, Paul Hibbert, is pleased with the decision taken by the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA), regarding his letter calling for the resignation of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) board.

Hibbert recently wrote to the parish associations seeking their support on the matter. A meeting was convened last Friday to address the issue and coming out of that the association said it would be holding the federation accountable and took the decision to mandate a subcommittee to monitor and evaluate the JFF's actions.

At its meeting held to deliberate wide-ranging missteps of the local governing body, KSAFA was unified in expressing misgivings about the JFF's plans to chart the course for Jamaica's football.

"KSAFA is committed to not only highlight the JFF's missteps but is also insisting on greater accountability and transparency," a release from KSAFA read.

It further stated that KSAFA was concerned with the lack of transparency in the restructuring proposals of the JFF and the need for continuous youth development.

"To date the association has not been provided details of the proposal that was submitted to FIFA.

Youth development

"Additionally, continuous youth development cannot be overlooked. The subcommittee will begin its work and give a progress report to the wider membership in due course," it said

In the meantime, Hibbert was satisfied with the course of action but couldn't say if the decision could lead to the changes that local football development demands.

"KSAFA has always been the leader and I believe in what they do. They have come out and made a statement and I stand behind them.

"It is a democracy and that is what it is supposed to be, not everyone is going to agree with everything.

"But as a democracy you stand behind your people and I stand behind KSAFA. They are going to hold JFF accountable for what they do," he stated.

"The process has gone through, a decision was taken by the collectorate and I stand behind it," he insisted.

Many onlookers wonder what will be KSAFA's next step if they want these concerns addressed, and general secretary, Dwayne Dillon, said from early indications the subcommittee has been exploring all possible angles regarding getting their voices heard.

"There have been talks to use all the possible avenues they can use to address the issues and concerns that may come up," he offered.

He added that. "We are trying (to get change) because football is at stake and development is at stake, so we are trying."

Efforts to get a response from the JFF on the decision was unsuccessful.
